Durbar Rajshahi beat Sylhet Strikers by 65 runs in match 23 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 fixture played on Friday, January 17 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. (More Cricket News)

The match started with Durbar Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque winning the toss and opting to bat against Sylhet Strikers and it worked well in their favor.

Batting first, Durbar Rajshahi's innings was marked by promising starts that were ultimately squandered. Despite all of their top five batters getting off to decent starts, none managed to convert those into substantial scores, with Ryan Burl leading the way with 41 runs.

Sylhet Strikers, while not at their best with the ball, played a role in helping Rajshahi reach a total of 184, despite Rajshahi’s struggles in building on those initial foundations.

Chasing 185, the Strikers faced an early setback, losing both openers within the first three overs. However, Zakir Hasan formed a vital partnership with George Munsey.

While Munsey struggled to get going, Zakir found the boundaries consistently and looked solid on a difficult pitch. At 71/2, the Strikers still had a chance, but once Zakir was dismissed, the collapse began.

In just a few overs, they plummeted to 101/7, losing five wickets for a mere 30 runs. Jaker Ali was left to carry the hopes of the team, but his fall sealed the Strikers' fate, ending their chase. And they were all out for 119 (17.3).
