Ayala unit beefs up Vietnam energy portfolio

ACEN Corp., the Ayala Group’s listed energy platform, secured a contract to supply clean energy to two of Cebu Pacific’s facilities.

In a disclosure Friday, ACEN said its deal with the low-cost carrier through its retail electricity supply arm ACEN Renewable Energy would help the latter shift to clean power.

The facilities covered by the deal include Cebu Pacific’s APlus and AirJuan buildings in Pasay City.

According to ACEN, the facilities are crucial to the airline’s operations as they house its maintenance and catering operations.

Cebu Pacific’s move also complements its current efforts to invest in a modern and fuel-efficient all-NEO fleet, implement fuel-efficient practices, optimize flight routes, and electrify its ground support equipment.

“We are delighted to partner with Cebu Pacific to support their commitment to sustainable aviation. By providing renewable energy solutions, we are enabling Cebu Pacific to reduce its carbon emissions and operate more efficiently,” said Sheila Mina, vice president and head of account management at ACEN.

“This partnership aligns with our mission of making renewable energy accessible for businesses across the Philippines,” Mina added.

ACEN said the deal was made possible through the government’s Green Energy Option Program, which allows customers or businesses consuming at least 100 kilowatts to choose renewable energy.

The group is a major player in the local renewable market with 6.8 gigawatts (GW) of attributable capacity. The company hopes to boost its portfolio to 20 GW by 2030. INQ
